Career Workshop

New This Year – Career Workshop for Future Trailblazers!
We’re thrilled to introduce our brand-new 3-Day Career Workshop designed just for incoming 8th-11th graders! This isn’t just any camp—it’s an opportunity for students to explore their passions, discover their talents, and start thinking about their future careers. Working side-by-side with industry pros, they’ll create a resume, learn about their unique skills and how these connect to college and career paths, and practice interview techniques with feedback from real-world professionals.

The workshop will be held during the week of July 21.

Day 1: Discover Your Strengths & Start Building Your Future

Welcome to Day 1! Students will kick off an exciting three-day journey of self-discovery and career preparation.

Here’s what Day 1 has in store:
  • Assess Your Interests & Skills: The day begins with a research-backed skills and interest inventory assessment. This personalized tool helps students uncover their strengths, passions, and potential career paths.
  • 1:1 Personalized Feedback: After the results are tabulated, students will meet individually with a coach to review and discuss their results, gaining a deeper understanding of their unique profile.
  • Resume Creation 101: With a clear sense of direction, students will dive into an engaging session on the importance of resumes. Guided by a Human Resources professional, they will learn how to craft a compelling resume that highlights their strengths and aligns with their career aspirations.
By the end of Day 1, students will have a solid foundation of self-awareness and a professionally crafted resume to kickstart their journey toward success. It’s all about understanding where they excel and putting that knowledge into action!

Day 2: Discover Your Path & Build Your Future

The excitement continues as students dive deeper into their professional journey! They’ll begin the day by hearing firsthand from a dynamic lineup of industry professionals and representatives from college and career technical admissions offices. These experts will share insights into their fields, careers, and the educational paths that led them to success.

Here’s the Plan for the Day:
  • Explore the Possibilities: Students will hear from professionals across various industries, sparking curiosity and providing inspiration.
  • Create Your Future List: Armed with the results from their skills and interest assessments from Day 1, students will identify a "prospective employer" list—selecting companies and career paths that align with their passions and strengths.
  • Resume Refinement: Students will wrap up the day by fine-tuning and finalizing their resumes based on their tailored prospective employer list, preparing for mock interviews on Day 3.
Day 2 is all about discovery, exploration, and taking those first steps toward building a standout resume that reflects both their skills and interests. By the end of the day, students will have a clearer sense of direction and be ready to shine in the mock interviews ahead!

Day 3: Mock Interview Day – Step into the Real World!

Today is all about putting those newfound skills to the test! Students will step into a simulated professional environment, participating in mock interviews with industry professionals and college admissions representatives tailored to the prospective career paths they explored on Day 2.

What to Expect:
  • Real Interview Experience: Just like a real job or college interview, students will face questions that challenge them to think on their feet and articulate their skills and aspirations.
  • Constructive Feedback: Before leaving each interview, students will receive personalized feedback on their resume and interview performance from the “hiring manager.”
  • Time to Improve: Between interviews, students will have dedicated breaks to reflect on the feedback, make adjustments, and prepare for the next round.
By the End of Day 3, Students Will Walk Away With:
  • A polished, professional resume (both print and electronic versions).
  • Results from their skill and interest assessments to better understand their strengths and passions.
  • Valuable feedback from industry professionals on how to enhance their resume and interviewing techniques.
  • Clarity and confidence in their chosen career path, whether it’s a college major, a profession through a post-high school technical program, or a deeper understanding of the college admissions process.
This hands-on, immersive experience is designed to boost confidence, refine communication skills, and provide a competitive edge for the future. Don’t just prepare—excel!
